Monday March 31

Another beautiful morning, Ian had to scrape the frost off the windscreen but it soon warmed up again. It has been at least 20C today and we have been walking around in short sleeves, which was great. My arms are slightly pink but Ian's face is definitely browner - he is going to have to watch the thin patch on his head : )
We drove into the central time zone this morning so we gained an hour. We had a stop in Nashville, Tennessee and did the state Capitol building tour (seen more impressive state capitols but what the heck). We are having to tune our ears to the southern drawls (y'all). Had a wander around the city and had a coffee break sitting outside in the sun. We've seen daffodils in flower today, trees budding and flowering trees (probably dogwood and cherry blossom), definitely ahead of ours.
Drove on a couple of hours more until we reached Bessemer, Alabama and found another Best Western for the night. Bought some cheap beer in WalMart (can't do that in Canada!), and had dinner in a Cracker Barrel country restaurant which was very near the hotel. We left totally stuffed, couldn't face a dessert.

Sunday March 30

Left Elora about 7:15 and made good time. Arrived in Dayton, Ohio about 2:45 and spent a couple of hours in the US Air Force museum. Lots of planes here, huge place. Set off again and drove for a couple of hours more, when we reached Lagrange, Kentucky we got a Best Western for the night. A nice Mexican restaurant within walking distance, with $6, huge 32 oz mugs of Mexican beer - we'll sleep tonight!!!
