We had a half-day walking tour of the city this morning. Lots of buildings and green spaces. The main avenue is the largest in the world - 3 or 4 lanes of traffic each way with a green space and trees down the middle. We saw several large, historical coffee shops, with beautiful panelling and carved wood, and small tables and booths for relaxing. Waiters were smartly dressed in white shirts, waistcoats and trousers - we all looked like tourists in our shorts! The tour finished at Galerias Pacifico where we grabbed a bite before walking back towards the hotel neighborhood. It was hot so we stopped at one of the old coffee shops for a beer, which surprisingly came with some small snacks - potato chips, peanuts, olives and two tiny smoked salmon wrap samples.
Tonight there are only six of us plus Chris for dinner, the rest of the group have gone to a tango show. I had chicken for a change, then we stopped for ice cream on the walk back.
